A green sail across a backyard pool
A dark green sail run corner to corner over the pool, pitched so the high side takes the afternoon sun and the low corner sheds water away from the paving rather than onto it. The posts stand outside the pool surround, which keeps the walk around the water clear and leaves the barrier line alone.
A pool sail has to clear the water by enough that nothing becomes a climbing aid, and its posts have to land outside the fence line or be designed as part of it. On most backyards that decides the shape of the sail before the shape gets a say, and it is the first thing we work out on site.

Working around the people who use the yard
A good share of our Ermington work has been childcare and play yards, and those jobs get planned around the centre rather than the other way round. We have built on a Saturday so a yard could stay open on the weekdays. It costs us a day and saves them a week of disruption, which is the right way round.
At the measure we look at the space, the anchors and the hours it needs shade. The blueprint shows the proposed cover and where the supports land. Bring photos of the area in use, especially at the hour the sun is causing the problem, because a yard in the morning tells you very little about the same yard at three o'clock.
A pool sail and a driveway sail need different clearances. A cantilever helps where a corner post would block the way through, as long as there is room for its supporting structure and its footing.
Choose the membrane for the job. Shade cloth lets air and rain through, which is usually what a play yard wants, because a sealed roof over soft fall turns into a hot still box in February. A waterproof roof wants suitable supports, a roof shape and drainage, and posts put in for cloth get assessed before any change to PVC.

Can you work around a childcare centre's hours?+
Usually, yes. We have done Ermington work on a Saturday so the yard stayed open through the week, and we plan the sequence around whatever the centre needs. Footings have to cure before anything is tensioned, so the staging is worth agreeing before we start rather than halfway through.
How close is your factory?+
Rydalmere, one suburb over. Everything is cut and sewn there, so a change to a panel or a fixing does not mean waiting in somebody else's queue, and a return visit is a short drive rather than a scheduling problem.
Do I need council approval for a shade sail in Ermington?+
In our experience of ordinary home enquiries, almost never.
