Two blue sails, overlapped through the middle, carried on tall galvanised posts set back in the lawn and the garden beds. Each one is twisted, two corners pulled high and two pinned low, so the fabric sits under tension. The overlap is what runs the cover unbroken across the paved terrace and the picnic tables, and no post lands where people walk. The posts are tall, so there is headroom under the low corners.
Overlapping two sails keeps each span shorter than a single sheet would need, and a shorter span means smaller fittings. The fabric blocks up to 99% of UV. A structure like this is engineered to the NSW wind codes, and then it has to sit there in public, tight, for years. It was made at our Rydalmere factory, and the fabric carries a 10 to 15 year warranty.

Campbelltown sits well inland, with the Scenic Hills on its western side and Camden and Narellan out past them. Summer runs hotter here than it does closer to the water, and a fair bit of the newer building has gone up on open ground where the trees planted with it are still small. That leaves a lot of yards and carparks with nothing over them, so the shade has to be built.
We come out and measure the yard or the site, then draw the structure over a photograph of your own place, showing the shape of the sails, where the posts land and how the fabric meets the roofline. You see it drawn on your own yard before anything is ordered. The measure and the blueprint cost nothing, and the quote is written up the same day we visit. Campbelltown asks for two kinds of shade. Backyards want cloth over a patio or a pool, on posts, and there is a wider run of that on our residential page, hypars and carport sails included. The bigger sites are schools and childcare yards, strata courtyards, and carpark shade structures where the cars cook. That side lives on our commercial page. The sails come out of the same Rydalmere factory either way, engineered to the same NSW wind codes. What changes is the span and the paperwork.
Corner heights matter before a shape gets settled. A twisted sail sheds its water off the low points, so a low corner sitting over the back door or the path from the garage means you walk through the runoff every time it rains. Where a sail lands on the house it needs to go into something structural. A fascia board on its own will not hold a tensioned sail, which usually means a bracket back into the rafters. Posts want clear ground under them and room around them for a footing, so where they land is worth settling early too.
Colour does more than decide the look. A darker cloth cuts glare hardest and reads cool underneath, while a lighter one keeps the space brighter and bounces a fair bit of light off pale paving. The UV block is the same either way, so colour comes down to the light you want under it. Give the cloth a wash with a soft broom and water when it looks like it wants one.
Council approval is covered in our guide to council approval. We also work on sails we did not build. One that has gone slack is often just a re-tension. Split stitching along a seam can be re-sewn, and a tired skin gets replaced on the posts that are already standing.

Do I need council approval for a shade sail in Campbelltown?+
Almost never. Most home shade sails are exempt development in NSW. Larger commercial and school structures are the ones more likely to want approval or an engineering certificate, and where a site does need it we prepare the documentation as part of the job.

What holds up best in the heat and wind out here?+
Tension does most of it. A sail cut with a twist stays tight instead of flogging in a gust, and that is what stops fabric chewing itself through. We size posts and footings for the sail they carry, and we engineer to the NSW wind codes, with certification available on request.
