Two blue hypar sails overlap through the middle, carried on tall galvanised posts set back in the lawn. Underneath is a brick path with a circle laid into it, and a pair of timber picnic tables on a paved pad. Apartment-style buildings stand behind the fence line.
Overlapping two sails keeps each span shorter than a single sheet would need, and a shorter span means smaller fittings. The posts stand out in the grass, clear of the path, so nothing lands where people walk and the low corners still sit high enough to walk under.

What happens to the yard while the footings go off?+
The holes go in, the posts are set and the concrete is left to take before anything gets tensioned, so for a stretch there are bare posts standing in the yard. Keep children and cars clear of them until we are back with the fabric.
What holds up best in the heat and wind out here?+
Tension does most of it. A sail cut with a twist in it stays tight instead of flogging in a gust, and flogging is what chews fabric through. Posts and footings are sized for the sail they carry, and every structure is engineered to NSW wind codes, with certification available on request.
